2002 Walt Disney World Marathon report: Brian Remark

Hi all!

Well, I finished my first marathon yesterday (5 hr 8 min) which was a little slower than I expected. I was fine for the first 17 miles until the rain began to fall. By the time mile 19 rolled around it was raining pretty hard, it was cold (I'm from Florida so it felt cold to me), and the wind was kicking up. My feet felt like they weighed 50 pounds during this stretch. I had to slow down after running pretty well up until this point because all the water in my shoes caused a couple blisters to form around mile 22 (which I had never had before). The last 4 miles I was thinking, "I'm never going to do this again" but found myself today looking at the Marine Corps marathon in October. When I finished, I didn't hang around and watch the people behind me because of the rain and cold. Of course, as soon as I was on my way home, the sun came out and it was a beautiful day :) I'm glad that I did it, but I am walking around like my grandpa instead of someone who's 25 today.

Congrats to all who made it through the rainy marathon!

Brian Remark
